New England Fights (“NEF”) presents its next event “NEF 66: Salute” on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. The event will feature professional and amateur mixed-martial-arts (MMA) and kickboxing bouts. Tickets are on sale now at www.TicketMaster.com.
Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of an amateur MMA bout to the card. Jayce Murphy (1-1) will meet Chris Weiss (0-0) in a bantamweight contest.
Jayce Murphy will make his third appearance in the NEF cage in the fight with Weiss. Murphy won his amateur debut over Alex Smith (0-1) last year at “NEF 62” with a slick leg triangle submission in the first round. Last February, Murphy took on the more experienced Qasim Abdullah (5-2) at “NEF 65.” He took Abdullah the full three rounds but came up short on the judges’ scorecards. Murphy represents Young’s MMA of Bangor.
“It feels amazing to fight in Bangor on May 16th against Chris,” exclaimed Murphy. “I appreciate him and his team for accepting this fight with me! I cannot wait for this. It’s going to be a great show!”
Chris Weiss will make his amateur debut in the bout with Murphy. Weiss is a lifelong wrestler, having competed on the mats since the age of 7. He placed second at the New England prep school championship, wrestling for Portsmouth Abbey School in Rhode Island. Weiss currently serves as the assistant wrestling coach for Oceanside High School in Rockland, Maine. He represents Flow BJJ.
“I have been preparing for this moment for quite sometime,” noted Weiss. “I’m really excited to finally enter the cage. I can’t wait to compete again!”
