Bangor, Maine – Marco Berreondo (0-0) will make his professional MMA debut at NEF 64: Call to Arms on Saturday, November 8, 2025, when he meets Maine’s Danny Buteau (0-0) in a bantamweight contest at the Cross Insurance Center.
Berreondo enters the paid ranks with a proven amateur résumé. He went 6-4 as an amateur, highlighted by winning the NEF Amateur Bantamweight Title at NEF 54 in September 2023 with a submission victory over Teddy Politis (0-1 pro). He returned to Maine the following February to defend that belt successfully against Nate Dorr (3-1). Berreondo also earned another regional championship in his home state of New York.
Representing Warriors Nation MMA, Berreondo has long been known for an aggressive, crowd-pleasing style. In his own words, the time away from competition hasn’t dulled his edge: “I’m healthy, strong, fast, and most importantly, improved. Even though I’ve been away from the competitive scene, the work never stopped. I’m excited for this matchup because I love testing myself and showing that I belong among the top bantamweights”.
For Berreondo, returning to fight under the NEF banner carries meaning beyond the cage. “Making my pro debut with NEF means the world to me. I love the NEF energy and fans. You guys are amazing! I definitely gotta get some lobster after the win”.
The matchup with Buteau is compelling for regional fans: two accomplished amateurs choosing to face each other in their very first professional bout, a rarity in MMA. NEF co-owner and matchmaker Matt Peterson called it “a testament to Danny and Marco’s confidence, their skill, and their willingness to take risks to accelerate their martial arts journey”.
