Lightweight Title Up For Grabs Nov 8

NEWS

New England Fights (“NEF”) returns with “NEF 64: Call to Arms” on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine. The event will showcase a stacked lineup of mixed martial arts (MMA) and kickboxing bouts. Tickets are available now at www.ticketmaster.com.

Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of an amateur MMA lightweight championship bout to the fight card. Avery Poole (3-1) will face Justin Wygant (3-2) for the vacant 155-pound amateur title.

Avery Poole is a perfect 2-0 in the NEF cage to date. He made his first appearance with the promotion at “NEF 61” last February and submitted Ben DeJesus (2-2) with a guillotine choke in the first round. It was the first loss of DeJesus’ amateur career after previously amassing a 2-0 record. Poole would return at “NEF 63” last month with, yet again, another first-round submission by guillotine choke – this time over Ben Rogers (0-1). Poole is a member of team Nostos where he trains under UFC veteran and former NEF Professional Lightweight Champion Devin Powell.

“I’m looking forward to an exciting fight with Justin, keeping it gangster for the whole time in front of a dope Bangor crowd,” said Poole. “I’m trying to put on a show, no boring shit!”

Like Poole, Justin Wygant will make his third appearance with the promotion at “NEF 64.” Last month it took Wygant a mere 18 seconds to finish Jacob MacMillan (1-1) with a first-round knockout punch. Wygant currently represents Fight Lab by Lee Brothers based in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

“Nothing but respect for Avery,” said Wygant. “I see a tough opponent in front of me. Very solid grappling and the guy can strike too. It’s gonna be a show!”

“NEF 64: Call to Arms” takes place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the first fight at 7 p.m. Tickets are available now at www.TicketMaster.com.
