Bangor, Maine – Maine’s Danny Buteau (0-0) will make his professional mixed martial arts debut at NEF 64: Call to Arms on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. He’ll face fellow debuting bantamweight Marco Berreondo (0-0) in a matchup that pairs two of New England’s most decorated amateurs.

Buteau steps into the pro ranks as the number-one-ranked amateur featherweight in New England. His 6-1 amateur career included regional titles in both New Hampshire and Indiana. His only loss came in a bid for the NEF Amateur Featherweight Title at NEF 58 against Josue Sotero (now 2-0 pro). Along the way, Buteau earned a win over current NEF Bantamweight Champion Nick Eldridge (5-0 pro), giving him a direct link to the top of the division.

A product of Wales, Maine, Buteau captured four state wrestling championships at Oak Hill High School before adding a national collegiate title at Husson University. Now representing Recon in Portland, Maine he is widely regarded as one of New England MMA’s brightest prospects.

“I’m super excited to start my professional journey of my MMA career,” Buteau said. “I plan on fighting often and fighting the best opponents possible. I’m here to make a career out of this, to support my family, my community, and to give what is due to God. I can’t wait to put on a show this November in Bangor”.

Berreondo, training out of Warriors Nation MMA, brings a 6-4 amateur record highlighted by his NEF Amateur Bantamweight Championship victory at NEF 54 and a successful defense in 2024. He also holds a regional title in New York. “I love testing myself and showing that I belong among the top bantamweights,” Berreondo said. “If you’ve seen me fight before, you know I love to entertain and get the crowd going”.
