History in the Making: NEF Crowns First Kickboxing Champion at NEF 64

NEWS

New England Fights (“NEF”) returns with “NEF 64: Call to Arms” on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine. The event will showcase a stacked lineup of mixed martial arts (MMA) and kickboxing bouts. Tickets are available now at www.ticketmaster.com.

Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of an amateur kickboxing championship bout to the fight card. Abdinajib Adan (3-0) will face Semaj Johnson (3-1) for the vacant 155-pound amateur kickboxing title.

Abdinajib Adan is undefeated in the kickboxing ranks to date. He made his debut in a Muay Thai bout in 2019 in Vermont with a second-round knockout victory. He would later compete in New Hampshire in 2023 winning a majority decision. Just last month, Adan took on Ben Perry (0-1) at “NEF 63” in Lewiston, Maine. He won an exciting fight by unanimous decision and, in doing so, made history as the first ever winner of a sanctioned kickboxing bout in Maine. Adan represents The Choi Institute of Portland, Maine.

“It’s all about the drive and opportunity,” said Adan. “I’m coming in to show my skills, and I will definitely get the belt.”

Semaj Johnson has competed in four kickboxing bouts since his debut in December 2024. Two of his wins have come by unanimous decision in Muay Thai fights in Vermont. Like Adan, Johnson also competed on the “NEF 63” card last month impressing many with his first-round knockout of Mark Walker (0-1) in a kickboxing bout. Johnson represents Karasu Tengu Academy in Nashua, New Hampshire.

“I’m happy to become a part of history again in the first NEF kickboxing title fight,” stated Johnson. “I have a tough opponent, but I love the challenge. I love fighting, it’s so much fun. I’m here to etch my name in New England fighting history. I’m blessed to have my son make the fifth walk with me and be a part of my story.”

“At NEF, we believe in elevating all forms of combat sports, and the introduction of our first-ever kickboxing title is a natural evolution of that vision,” said NEF co-founder Nick DiSalvo. “We’re committed to fostering the growth of kickboxing in Maine and providing athletes with a premier platform to showcase their skills. This new title is just the beginning of an exciting chapter for the sport in our region.”

“NEF 64: Call to Arms” takes place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the first fight at 7 p.m. Tickets are available now at www.TicketMaster.com.
