New England Fights presents its next mixed-martial-arts event “NEF 55: Glory Days” on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of an amateur light heavyweight bout to the card. George Pissimissis (1-2) will face Brandon Oldenburg (0-3) at a fight weight of 205 pounds.
Massachusetts’ George Pissimissis will make his fourth appearance in the NEF cage. He debuted with the promotion in 2019 in a fight that was stopped when Pissimissis injured his shoulder in the first round. He would return at “NEF 45” at the end of the COVID-19 pandemic with a first-round technical knockout of Tucker Olinsky (0-1). Pissimissis will look to get back on the winning track at “NEF 55” after a loss in his most recent fight to Seth Godfrey (1-1) last year. He currently represents Wai Kru based in Allston, Massachusetts.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to once again step into the cage for NEF,” said Pissimissis. “I’m looking forward to having an exciting fight with a tough and determined opponent.”
Like Pissimissis, the fight will be the fourth trip to the NEF cage for Brandon Oldenburg. He will look for the first win of his amateur career thus far. Oldenburg hails from nearby Newport, Maine. It will be his first time fighting in front of his hometown crowd since September 2022. He currently represents Titan Athletics based in Brewer, Maine.
“I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to fight in front of all my friends and family right in my back yard in Bangor,” exclaimed Oldenburg. “I know George is going to come ready to brawl and I can’t wait to be in that cage again!”
“NEF 55: Glory Days” takes place on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine. Doors are scheduled to open at 6 pm with first fight taking place at 7 pm. Tickets to “NEF 55” are available now at www.ticketmaster.com.
