Unfinished Business at Flyweight to be Resolved at NEF 64

NEWS

Bangor, Maine (September 6, 2025) – New England Fights (“NEF”) returns with “NEF 64: Call to Arms” on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine. The card will feature a full lineup of mixed-martial-arts (MMA) and kickboxing bouts. Tickets are available now at www.TicketMaster.com.

Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of an amateur flyweight matchup: Hussin Al-Saadi (3-2) vs. Axjaivion Evans (2-2) at 125 pounds.

The two previously met at NEF 59 in September 2024, where Al-Saadi earned a split-decision victory after a spirited three-round battle.

Following that bout, Al-Saadi moved up in weight to face undefeated bantamweight champion Jackson Campbell (5-0) at NEF 60. He dropped a unanimous decision in the contest.

Earlier this year, Al-Saadi returned to his natural weight class—where he had been undefeated—to challenge New York’s Khusan Jamshidov (4-1) for the vacant NEF flyweight championship. In a highly technical five-round standup showcase, Al-Saadi fell short by split decision. Because Jamshidov missed championship weight, the title remained vacant.

Despite consecutive setbacks, Al-Saadi, who trains out of the Choi Institute in Portland, Maine, remains focused on his goal of capturing NEF gold. He views his upcoming rematch with Evans as the next step toward the top of the regional rankings.

“I’m coming for my title,” Al-Saadi said.

Like his opponent, Evans has kept busy since their first meeting. He rebounded with a win earlier this year on a Massachusetts fight card before taking on former NEF Flyweight Champion Jake Ferri (5-0) in June. Evans dropped a decision to Ferri, a decorated collegiate wrestler.

With both fighters coming off rare career losses, each is determined to make a statement in their November 8 rematch.

“Fans can expect a way better performance from me than what they saw in our first fight,” Evans said. “I have gotten so much better from my last fight with Hussin. It will be a banger fight. Don’t miss it!”

“When I pitched this rematch, both camps accepted immediately,” said NEF co-founder Matt Peterson. “That speaks to the competitive fire driving these fighters. Our fans expect authentic competition—and this fight delivers. Two evenly matched athletes with unfinished business—it’s the kind of bout that makes NEF fight nights like November 8th unforgettable.”

“NEF 64: Call to Arms” takes place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the first fight at 7 p.m. Tickets are available now at www.TicketMaster.com.
