VEINOTT & MIMA MAKE LONG-AWAITED RETURNS

NEWS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Bangor, Maine (September 30, 2023) – New England Fights presents its next mixed-martial-arts event “NEF 55: Glory Days” on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of a professional flyweight bout to the card. Dustin Veinott (0-0) will meet Darren “The Mean One” Mima (10-9) at a fight weight of 125 pounds.

Dustin Veinott made his amateur debut in the NEF cage just over ten years ago at “NEF 9.” Since that time, he has amassed an MMA record of 5-4 with the promotion. Veinott made history in the summer of 2021 at “NEF 44” in Milford, New Hampshire when he won the first-ever kickboxing bout to take place in the promotion’s cage. He is a former NEF Amateur Flyweight Champion. Veinott represents Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ) based in Lewiston, Maine.

“I started this fight journey way back in 2013 with three goals. One, to have 10 amateur fights. Two, to have at least one pro fight. And three, to coach and help other fighters follow their dream. I have accomplished two of those goals already. After my spine injury in 2016, I never thought I would achieve this last goal. So, I am excited to be able to make this walk as a pro and to finally check off all three goals. I am the spark that this 125-pound division needs, which I plan to show on November 11th.

“I am not like a lot of these other fighters that pad their records,” said Veinott. “I asked for Darren because I respect him and he is a 19-fight vet. He will be able to test me and push me to my limit. He is a solid, well-rounded fighter, who has beat some top-level guys like Johnny Campbell and Merab Dvalishvili (currently ranked third in the world) just to name a couple. So, this will be a tough test for me. However that being said, I am confident that I have the skills to win this fight. I will be looking for the finish from start to end. Don’t miss it!”

As stated by Veinott, Mima holds a win over Merab Dvalishvill (16-4) who is the number-two contender to the UFC Bantamweight Title at the present time. His MMA career stretches back to 2012, making him one of the Northeast’s most experienced veterans. The fight with Veinott will be the first for Mima with NEF. He currently represents Black Hole Jiu-Jitsu.

“On November 11th in Bangor, Maine, for the first time in the NEF Cage, I’m back and meaner than ever,” said Mima when reached for comment.”

“NEF 55: Glory Days” takes place on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine. Doors are scheduled to open at 6 pm with first fight taking place at 7 pm. Tickets to “NEF 55” are available now at www.ticketmaster.com.
